90’s nostalgia is good. We all like it. But some bands commit way too much to their former selves and forget to write new music. Thankfully, there’s Third Eye Blind.
Third Eye Blind has mastered the art of paying homage to their classics while still creating new and exciting material. There is no question, you’re bouncing your heart out to ‘Jumper’ at a TEB show, but they’ve done a great job of growing into themselves.
The band has been heavy on the major festival circuit this year and in that time, has managed to play their hits in a way that turns attendees into new fans all over again. Take their new single ‘Cop v. Phone Girl’; it’s an unfortunately real narrative of the type of hostile police situations that cover the news cycle. And it’s their new voice, one fans are hungry to hear. Staying relevant is an art, and being a trending topic on Twitter doesn’t hurt.
To learn more about their new music and what the band means to their fans, we sat down with guitarist Kryz Reid minutes after he rocked the Outside Lands main stage in front of thousands of people. And uhh…we’ve got to say it…we asked him ‘How’s it Going to Be’…when they put out the new EP.
