Wearhaus Featured Artist: CamrynSeptember 14, 2016
Females have always dominated popular music. From Madonna to Katy Perry, women are a driving force in music and what’s increasingly exciting is that the next generation of artists is here. Solo artist Camryn is leading the charge for the next generation and that’s exactly why she named her EP New Dynasty. Read on to learn more about the future of pop…
Wearhaus: The 5 song EP was released on July 15th. What were the best and most difficult moments?
Camryn: The best moment was when I listened to ‘Machines’ for the first time after we finished it and I realized that it was my favorite song and the new single. The most difficult was finding the single! I love all of the songs I’ve recorded over the last few years but these five stand out to me the most and represent who I am the best.
What did you learn from opening for major artists like One Direction?
I learned how to be a better performer. I played to many different types of crowds. Some were amazing, some were a little low energy or just not interested and I learned how to be the best I can be in any scenario. I also grew up a lot on that tour, specifically because I was away from home for so long and got to see so many parts of Europe I never would have seen otherwise.
What can we expect from your live show?
My live show is very much like a rock show. I have an awesome band that I love to have fun with on stage and we are all super high energy! When you watch my show I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed or bored!
What role did YouTube play in your career when getting started?
YouTube was the first place where I started putting out music. It’s such an easy and great way of to get yourself and your music out there. I still use YouTube as a place to put my music such as lyric videos and music videos!
The ‘Machines’ music video is like a mini Hunger Games type story line. Where did the inspiration come from and what types of plans/ideas do you have for future music videos?
The video is inspired by the book 1984 by George Orwell. I was reading it for school and it became my favorite book! When we got around to coming up with concepts for my music video, I suggested 1984 and everyone loved it! I wanted to flip the storyline and explore a character that succeeds in starting a revolution. I wrote the concept for the video myself. As of right now, I don’t have any ideas for future videos but I’m sure inspiration will strike when the time is right.
We saw on Facebook that you just went to Africa! Tell us about why you went on that trip and what was accomplished.
I had the privilege to go to Africa with my family for vacation! I have such a soft spot for animals and I plan on doing as much as I can for endangered species and all animals worldwide. I got to see the big five which includes buffalos, elephants, lions, leopards, and rhinoceroses. I also love photography and I got some amazing photos while I was there that I plan on framing in my house.
Women in pop have always been so amazing. You’re team has had a hand in Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears’ careers — what role are you hoping your career plays in that dynasty?
I am so lucky to be part of a management team that manages strong woman like Miley and Britney! I hope I can represent the start of a new generation taking over this industry like strong artists have before me. That’s why I named my EP New Dynasty. I want to show the world that a new era is coming and we are the New Dynasty!
What are your next steps after the EP. Touring? More recording?
I am always recording new music!! I plan to do lots of radio shows and hopefully tour. Tours can come up in a matter of days so you never know!
